City of Long Beach Nutrition Services-WIC Program (2007)

Since 1983, all team members have been supported to breastfeed and have had the pleasure of working at a breastfeeding-friendly worksite. They program consists of hospital, telephone, and online breastfeeding support as well as home visits. When the employee returns to work, a hospital grade electric pump is available to her and she gets 5 minute extensions of her 15 minute breaks. All 6 sites have lactation rooms that are private and can be used by staff as well as participants, if they wish for a private space. The rooms contain electric breast pumps, an infant scale, pillows, and footstools.
